Post History: VFW Post 30 began it's history on April 18, 1921 with the Ward Cheney Post located at Cavite, Philippine Islands. The first Commander of Post 30 was William Taylor and meetings were held the first Tuesday of the month at the Penisula Club at Naval Station, Cavite, P.I. This Charter continued until 9 November, 1948. According to the history records, Post 30 did not resurface again until 3 January, 1970, when an Application for Post Charter was submitted. This charter was assigned to VFW Post 30, N. Paul Schumann, Sasebo, Japan, on 9 January, 1970. The first Commander was Eldridge P. Engstrom. This charter continued until 2 April, 1973. On 1 July, 1978, Application for Post Charter was applied for and awarded to K-2 Memorial, Post 30, Taegu, Korea on 26 August, 1978. First Commander was George Palmer. K-2 Memorial continued until 26 June, 1982 Application for Post Charter was again submitted on 18 April, 1988 to form Orrick Memorial, Post 30, Orrick, Missouri. Charter was granted and the Date of Institution was 20 April, 1988. The first Commander was Robert Merriman. This charter continued until 31 October, 1989. The current Charter was applied for on 21 January 1992 and awarded to Post 30, Blue Springs, Missouri on 5 March, 1992. The first Commander was Donald Isom and the first charter listed 117 members. Meetings were held on the first Wednesday of the month. It wasn't until 30 July, 1992 that the Post decided on the name now know as "Kenneth L. Yeagle Memorial". Kenneth L. Yeagle was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frances Yeagle of Blue Springs, Missouri. He was an S-4 with the U.S. Army and served in the Republic of Vietnam 1967/68. Kenneth received the following awards: Army Commendation Medal National Defense Medal RVN Service Medal Expert Rifleman Badge Army Good Conduct RVN Campaign Ribbon (3 stars) RVN Galantry Cross Post 30 received it's Perpetual Life Charter in October 1992. Post 30 has received the Missouri "All State" Post Award for the years 1992, 93, 94, 95, 96, 97, and 98. Many of the members of Post 30 have held various prominant titles within the VFW Orginazation to include: National Chairman - Youth Development All American District Commander County Council Commander State Legislative Chairman State Homeless Veterans Chairman State Budget Chairman District Commander District Quartermaster District Chaplain VFW Service Officer National Legislative Committee National Foreign Relations Committee VE & VJ Day Parade Chairman, KC, MO National By-Laws Chairman Big "10" Conference Convention Chairman District POW/MIA Chairman Sect/Tres 100th VFW National Convention Committee Commander, Dept. of Missouri Senior Vice Dept. of Missouri Quartermaster Dept. of Missouri Asst. National Inspector General Post 30's Color Guard has also been presented with several awards. Kenneth L. Yeagle Memorial, Post 30 continues to be an important influence in the Blue Springs community.
